A fine copy of this delightful book, illustrated by Paul Woodroffe. This edition was limited to 100 copies on Japonese vellum, especially printed for the Guild of Women-Binders. Established by Frank Karslake, the Guild of Women-Binders, was not so much a guild as a business venture designed as an outlet for the work of certain groups of amateur female binders, which ran from 1898 to 1904. The binding, whilst distinctive of the guild's style, is uncharacteristically unsigned. (See Tidcombe, 'Women Bookbinders 1880-1920, and G. Rare French edition of Kipling's story decorated with twenty-nine hand-coloured pochoir plates by leading Scottish book illustrator, Jessie King (1875-1949). Of particular interest is the remarkable snakeskin binding by Rene Kieffer (1875-1964) with matched oval gilt blocked cameos of lovers, designed by Kieffer in collaboration with the modernist tastemaker and artist, Pierre Emile Legrain. Other beautiful examples of shark and snakeskin bindings by Legrain and Kieffer appear in Alistair Duncan's Art Nouveau and Art Deco Bookbinding (London, 1989).

Limited edition of 200 copies specially printed by Christopher and Anthony Sandford and Owen Rutter, with wood-engravings by John O'Connor and an introduction by Walter de la Mare.

Numbered limited edition of 225 copies signed by the author. James and Cecil Johnson of the Windsor Press were born in Sydney in 1897 and 1900 respectively. After serving in the First World War they established the Windsor Press in San Francisco.

This striking artist's book was produced in Germany and hand-set on Japanese Tenjin paper. Christain Ide has taken an excerpt from British author Bruce Chatwin's 'The Songlines', and produced a sensitive work. The concertina format, and the bright rainbow of handdyed paper effectively evokes a sense of the energy and unity of ancestor creation in the Dreamtime.

After producing a portfolio of plates titled 'Aphrodite' Brunskill purchased a nineteenth century Lion platen press built for Frederick Ulmer. 'The Romaunt of the Rose' was the second book printed on the press, with type composition by Edward Ash. The poem was started in French by Guillaume de Loris in 1237 and translated by Chaucer shortly thereafter.

Edmund Waller (1606-1687) was respected for his command of language and prowess as an orator. The romantic poems featured in this rare edition are among his more sensitive works and form a pleasing contrast to the Royalist verse penned during the English Civil war. The present edition is limited to 300 copies and is printed on hand-made paper with uncut fore and bottom edges. A confident and stylised work.

This attractive edition of Stevenson's fables is a pleasure to behold: the type is beautifully set amidst Russell's striking woodcut vignettes and this edition is printed in a large paper format with generous margins.

A rare and beautiful edition of Cocteau's poem ‘Énigme' privately printed at Les Éditions des Rèverbères. The entire text is engraved and includes a frontispiece by Cocteau, signed ‘Jean' in the plate with his familiar five-pointed star. This is number 103 of an edition of 130.
