CAZNEAUX, Harold , Harold Cazneaux (illus.)
The Australian Native Bear Book
Bound in pictorial wrappers, 195mm x 260mm, 24 pages, 21 black & white illustrations; some wear to the lower edge of yap wrappers otherwise a very very good copy.
Sydney: Art in Australia, 1930. Woodcuts by Margaret Preston decorate the cover and title page. "The photographic studies reproduced in this little book were all made by Mr. Harold Cazneaux, at Koala Park, West Pennant Hills, New South Wales, and they set out in a masterly manner to show the charms of the little animal that civilisation has gone to such pains to destroy in the past and is now, somewhat shamefacedly, making an effort to preserve for the future" (Burnet). Most remarkably, nearly all of the koalas in Cazneaux's photographs are awake! (Item ID: 1283)
